Get On Track Countdown Clock

Types of challenges

There are three versions of the program, allowing it to be implemented in a variety of settings;
  • The online 8-week challenge which is coordinated by Diabetes WA and runs several times a year.
  • The online ‘create your own’ competition which allows a coordinator to determine the dates and duration of the challenge. This option is great for workplaces or community groups who wish to Get On Track any time of the year.
  • The print based version. This option is ideal for people who do not have access to, or prefer not to use the internet. Each team is supplied with a pack containing everything needed to implement a challenge. The print-based challenge allows people to compete against their team mates or organise a competition where several teams are involved.
The Get On Track Challenge is also available in a print-based format. The print-based format provides hard-copy resources for participants who may not have access to the internet, or would prefer not to use the internet to take on the healthy lifestyle challenge.

The resources include a large team map, daily log sheet and a participant booklet.

Individuals
Individual teams can order the print-based resources and use them to track their physical activity and fruit and vegetable progress over 8 weeks.

The print-based resources are designed to be used separately from the website. This means that you will not be competing against other teams online. The competition exists between your team members, motivating each other to progress further along the team map.

Why not get your friends and family to form a team and get involved too? You can hang your team posters in a central location and battle to reach the end of the track first!

Print-based challenge competitions
Are you a workplace representative, health professional or just interested in running a challenge with people in your area?

The print-based challenge resources are also designed to be run with larger groups. It is great to use in settings where not everyone has internet access such as a hospital workplace, regional community towns, outdoor workplaces or schools.

To run the print-based challenge in your area or workplace, someone needs to become the coordinator. This person is responsible for running, organising, promoting, implementing and evaluating the challenge. This person provides support for all the participating teams, and liaises with Diabetes WA.

The print-based format requires participants to record their daily progress on a log sheet and transfer this onto their team map. Each team captain is also required to send weekly totals to the coordinator who manages the challenge and sends out updates to the teams about the challenge.
